HEAD
    face longer hairs on upper and central portion of upper face erect, yellow, the shorter hairs likewise yellow, but somewhat procumbent, and overlapping the gibbosity from above; these latter hairs also grade into procumbent yellow hairs laterally, which project over the gibbosity to each side; hairs on gibbosity erect, yellow above about one-fifth distance from top of oral margin to top of gibbosity; hairs on lower portion of gibbosity black: area framed on each side of the oral margin by the gibbosity dorsally, and the inner margin of the eye dorsolaterally, is bare

    beard entirely yellow

    hairs underneath the proboscis yellow

    palpal hairs hairs on first segment yellow; hairs on second segment black

THORAX
    postpronotal lobes with long yellow hairs

    mesonotum covered with long yellow hairs, more of which are recumbent prior to the transverse suture, than posterior to it; these hairs increase slightly in length on posterior calli

    tuft of hairs in front of wings black

    tuft of hairs in front of haltere entirely yellow

    scutellar hairs black, medium length and slanted at about a 45 degree angle backwards on disk; yellow (with one or two black interspersed laterally), long, and erect on margin

    ground color of legs from a distance the ground color appears to be black, but when viewed with a dissecting microscope, from an angle the surface appears to be blue black

    fore- and mid-tibiae with yellow hairs posteriorly

    hind tibiae with yellow to golden-yellow hairs anteriorly, dorsally, and posteriorly for entire length

    hind femora both dorsal and ventral surfaces with a weak line of scattered yellow hairs stretching from near base to about three-fourths way to apex; "knee" or apex yellow haired, these hairs more conspicuous on anterior and posterior surfaces than on dorsal surface

ABDOMEN
    abdominal segmentsVariable; Ontario specimen (a paratype) with tergite 1 entirely black haired, and with tergite 2 also black haired, except for a few yellow hairs on each side in a dorsolateral patch along the posterior margin; the Michigan specimen in contrast has tergite 1 bearing a patch of yellow hairs on each side, along the extreme lateral margin, the remaining hairs being the usual black, and further differs from the paratype in that on tergite 2 all the hairs are black; in both specimens yellow hairs on tergite 3 are restricted to a large dorsolateral, posterior patch on each side, the rest of the tergite again being provided with black hairs; yellow hairs are present everywhere on tergites 4-7
